Amazon: Researchers discover new monkey on the route of the BR-319

A new subspecies of monkey has just been discovered in the Amazon and already at risk. The small primate, named scientifically as Saguinus fuscicollis mura, was found between the Madeira and Purus, precisely on the route of the BR-319 highway, which connects Porto Velho (RO) to Manaus (AM). The highway, which is now abandoned and impassable, has the reform envisaged in the Plan for Accelerated Growth (PAC). The work is just awaiting the license from IBAMA to start, and environmentalists say the road could bring unprecedented devastation to the region.

New crow

A kind of crow has also been recently discovered in the course of the BR-319, and runs more risk than the monkey. How she can live only in environments of transition between the natural grasslands and forests can be seriously damaged by the fires that will occur in the region.
